Abstract
The article is devoted to the little-studied history of the journey of the Sarajevo archimandrite Sava Kosanovich across Russia in 1872–1874. Kosanovich's trip was organized by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Holy Synod and the Slavic Committee. A prominent public figure, secretary of the Moscow Slavic Committee, Nil Aleksandrovich Popov, rendered great assistance to the guest from Bosnia. Kosanovich's letters to Popov made it possible to reconstruct the itinerary of his journey. The Sarajevo archimandrite made two big trips around the Russian Empire, during which he visited Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ryazan, Morshansk, Kozlov, Saratov, Khvalynsk, Kazan, Vyatka, Nizhny Novgorod, Yelets and Orel. The collected funds made it possible to complete the construction of the Collegiate Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sarajevo.
